INDEX Holding Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with
Goheung County in South Korea

A delegation from the UAE-KOREA Business Investment Opportunities Exhibitions visited Goheung County in South Korea in order to be introduced to the county and the investment opportunities in this county. Goheung County is located 800 km from Seoul with natural beauty and clean environment throughout, it is one of the 22 counties and cities south coast of Jeolla Province with an area of 776 km2 and a population of 84,000 inhabitants. The county is visited yearly by around 2,45 millions visitors and the number is on the rise. It attracts 825,000 people within 50 km and 2,000,000 people within 100 km, within the county there are 169 islands that can be reached by sea, air and 12 bridges. Goheung County aims to attract investors to start several projects in aerospace, tourism, business entertainment and health ensuring the protection of the environment. The cost of the land is very low compared to similar locations/options in Korea, the work is in progress to build an airport for aviation school and soon the work shall commence on building an airport to the county. Goheung County shall be the Aerospace Center to launch the first space shuttle in Korea. Within the county there shall be an edutainment marine and health complex geared to attract the visitors who are seeking tourism, entertainment, relaxation, treatment and education.

The delegation was received generously by the County Council headed by the Mayor of Goheung County H.E. Park Byeong Jong. A special dinner was organized on this occasion whereby H.E. Park Byeong Jong delivered a speech thanking the delegation for their visit to Goheung County and he expressed the admiration and respect of Goheung County to the achievements, growth and development of the United Arab Emirates and specifically in Dubai. His Excellency mentioned that Goheung County is working extensively to benefit from Dubai’s experience in development and growth. He emphasized that the success of Dubai is a natural reflection for the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai and he registered his admiration to the personality of His Highness. On the occasion Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of INDEX Holding gave a speech where he registered the deep appreciation for His Excellency the Mayor for the generous hospitality and mentioned that INDEX Holding shall provide its expertise to Goheung County in its developmental programs and to transfer Dubai’s experience to the county.

The delegation participated in the second day in the Goheung International Forum that was held at the Goheung Cultural Center. The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of Joellanam-do Province H.E. Park Joon Yung. The opening ceremony commenced by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between H.E. Park Byeong Jong, Goheung County Mayor and Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President, INDEX Holding. The MOU stated that INDEX Holding shall provide the support and expertise for Goheung County in investment and promotion of Goheung County through the Conferences and Exhibitions that are organized by INDEX and to provide the expertise of Health Management Member of INDEX Holding in the development of the Health Complex that is expected to be constructed in Goheung County. The county will support INDEX through participating in the exhibitions and events that are organized by INDEX in the field of investment and economy.
